mandelic acid

acide mandélique

Mandelic acid is an organic acid derived from bitter almonds, found in other plants and also produced synthetically.
This active ingredient is renowned for its ability to exfoliate the skin. By helping to eliminate dead cells from the surface layers of the epidermis, it accelerates the natural process of cell renewal. As a result, mandelic acid restores luminosity and uniformity to the complexion. It also helps combat the formation of imperfections (dilated pores, blackheads, pimples) caused by clogged pores.
The large molecular size of this acid enables it to remain on the skin's surface and exfoliate without being abrasive to the skin.
By renewing the cutaneous barrier, mandelic acid also limits evaporation of water from the skin, and promotes absorption of the active ingredients in the skincare products subsequently applied.
Mandelic acid also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, making it an ally for acne-prone skin.
Finally, through its antioxidant action, it helps protect skin from premature aging.
