How do you add retinol to your skincare routine?

A benchmark anti-aging active, retinol is one of the three forms of vitamin A, along with retinal and retinoic acid. By stimulating cell renewal, it prevents and attenuates the signs of aging, fights blemishes and diminishes brown spots.

1. Perform a skin reaction test

Retinol's irritant potential is well known. To avoid any risk of reaction, we recommend that you test your skin's reaction to the product. To do this, apply a few drops of retinol to the arm, wrist or behind the ear, and wait a few seconds. If your reaction is too strong, do not use this product on your face.

2. Gradually incorporate it into your skincare routine

To start with, we recommend spacing out the frequency of application. Start with every third evening for a month, then every second evening the following month, to give your skin time to adapt to the molecule.

PERSpective: we recommend applying PERS Retinol Concentrate Serum every other night, alternating with REPAIR. However, if the skin feels tight, too sensitive or irritated, or after too much sun exposure, we recommend that you apply the RÉPARER cream first, before gradually alternating with the STIMULER step.

3. Apply in the evening only

Retinol is a photosensitizing active ingredient: following exposure to the sun, it can cause skin irritation. We recommend that you apply it in the evening, before going to bed. The next morning, be sure to apply a sunscreen.

4. Moisturize your skin as needed

Retinol can have a drying effect on the skin. To counteract this, you can apply a moisturizing cream after applying retinol. This allows the retinol to penetrate the skin effectively, while providing additional hydration.

5. Choose a retinol suitable for sensitive skin

New-generation retinol serums are better tolerated by sensitive or mature skin, while delivering real efficacy.

PERS Retinol Serum

Aware of the benefits of retinol, as well as its drawbacks, we have developed our serum accordingly. PERS Retinol Concentrate Serum contains 2% of a natural pro-retinol or retinol booster for sensitive skin. This molecule prevents the natural degradation of retinol in the skin, so retinol's effectiveness is maintained for longer without the need for too high a dose.

We tested the serum on a panel of 40 volunteers over a two-month period, 50% of whom were multi-ethnic and 50% with sensitive skin, to ensure results and safe use.
